Serious Sam: Shatterverse System Requirements
Steam min/rec table, DirectX 12, consoles, and cloud.
Official PC targets
Serious Sam: Shatterverse is a premium Unreal Engine 5 co-op shooter. Behaviour Interactive posted two Steam targets: 1080p Low at 30 FPS for the minimum machine, and 1080p High at 60 FPS for the recommended machine. Both require a 64-bit OS, DirectX 12, and 10 GB of free storage. There is no published DirectX 11 or Vulkan path.
Use this page as the numbers desk, then return to the Tools Hub for FOV, hosting, and which settings to drop first. If you are still installing, pair the table with getting started so you do not spend the first hour in a jungle arena at 18 FPS.
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 x64 | Windows 11 x64 |
| CPU | Intel Core i7-6700 / AMD Ryzen 5 2500U | Intel Core i7-11800H / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / Radeon RX 560X | GeForce RTX 2080 / Radeon RX 7600 |
| API | DirectX 12 | DirectX 12 |
| Storage | 10 GB | 10 GB |
| Target | 1080p Low, 30 FPS | 1080p High, 60 FPS |
Those SKUs mix desktop and laptop chips on purpose — Steam printed them that way. An i7-6700 is a 2015 4-core desktop. A Ryzen 5 2500U is a 15 W 2018 laptop APU. Recommended is an 8-core Tiger Lake-H laptop chip or a Ryzen 5 5600X desktop six-core. If your CPU sits under that band, expect the frame time to fall apart when five players stack Sams and the AI budget explodes, even if the GPU still has headroom.
What the RTX 2080 recommendation actually implies
A GeForce RTX 2080 is a 2018 Turing card. Listing it next to a Radeon RX 7600 for 1080p High 60 FPS is not a flex about ray tracing. Shatterverse is a stylized horde game; the cost is Unreal Engine 5 drawing hundreds of Kleers, Gnaars, and projectiles in large arenas, plus CPU work for animation and peer-to-peer replication.
If you own a GTX 1060, GTX 1650, or an RX 580, you are in the minimum neighborhood, not the 60 FPS neighborhood. Stay at 1080p Low or Medium, cut shadows and effects first, and do not chase ultra presets because a screenshot on the review looked sharp. The 1050 Ti / RX 560X floor is explicitly 30 FPS. Treat 30 as the contract, not a bug.
VRAM is not listed as a separate Steam line, but both recommended cards ship with 8 GB. 8 GB of system RAM is the minimum, not a comfort zone for Windows 11 plus Chrome plus Discord plus a UE5 shooter. If you are on 8 GB, close the browser, and do not host a five-player co-op lobby.
Storage is only 10 GB on both columns. That is small for a 2026 Unreal title and is one reason an SSD is still the right disk even though Steam did not print “SSD required.” A 10 GB install on a 5400 RPM drive will hitch on texture streaming the first time a temple fight loads. DirectX 12 is not optional; Feature Level 12_0 class hardware is the gate, which is why the 1050 Ti is the Nvidia floor instead of a 750 Ti.
Consoles, Play Anywhere, and cloud
The same build shipped on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the Microsoft Store. Xbox Play Anywhere means a Microsoft Store purchase unlocks both Xbox Series X/S and PC. Steam is a separate storefront and a separate save silo unless you are only using Steam Cloud on the Steam copy.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is the official answer if your PC is below the GTX 1050 Ti line and you do not own a current-gen console. Input latency is the trade: a cloud stream will not match a local 60 FPS host when Kleer packs close the distance. If you are the cloud player in a mixed lobby, say so before you volunteer to host. Peer-to-peer netcode follows the host, not the store badge.
PlayStation 5 and Series X/S versions are the current-generation consoles only. There is no Xbox One or PS4 SKU in the store listings. Console players still use the same controls ideas — look sensitivity, aim assist if present, and whether in-game voice is forced open-mic — but they skip the DirectX 12 driver dance.
Steam Deck, laptops, and what is unknown
Valve had not published a verified Steam Deck rating at launch. Do not treat the Ryzen 5 2500U minimum as a Deck blessing. Deck is a different APU, a different thermal envelope, and a different Proton path. Until Valve or Behaviour posts a rating, assume Deck is unknown, cap the refresh, and test a short getting started run before you queue a Shattered attempt on a handheld.
Laptops should match the listed mobile SKUs honestly. An i7-11800H on the recommended line is a 45 W eight-core. A 15 W ultrabook with a 1650 Max-Q is not that machine. Plug in, set Windows to Performance, and disable battery saver before you blame the weapon feel for input lag that is actually thermal throttle.
Steam Cloud is enabled on the PC build. Xbox Cloud saves apply to the Microsoft Store / Play Anywhere copy. They are not a cross-storefront transfer. Twenty Steam achievements exist on the PC side; they are not a hardware test, but several of them (large kill counts, dual-wield challenges) will feel worse if you are locked at 30 FPS in a packed arena.
How to use the table in a real session
- Identify which column you actually meet, not which column you wish you met.
- Set the in-game quality preset to Low if you only hit minimum, High only if you hit recommended at 1080p.
- Confirm DirectX 12 in the video menu. If the game will not boot, the GPU driver is the first suspect, not a missing 10 GB folder.
- Decide the host before the first biome. The co-op guide explains why a weak host ruins everyone else’s frame time.
- After a stable 20 minutes, go read the launch notes so you know which playtest fixes are already in the build you just installed.
If the jungle combat screenshot on this page looks denser than your living-room TV, that is the point. Shatterverse’s cost is crowd rendering, not cinematic cutscenes. Meet the table, then spend the rest of the evening on Sams and tier lists instead of fighting the GPU.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Shatterverse questions.
How much storage does Serious Sam: Shatterverse need?
Steam lists 10 GB on both minimum and recommended. Install on an SSD anyway. The Tools Hub covers which settings to drop if streaming hitches remain.
Is DirectX 11 supported?
No. Both columns require DirectX 12. There is no published DX11 or Vulkan fallback. Update a DX12-capable driver before you assume the 10 GB install is corrupt.
Can I play on Xbox Cloud Gaming if my PC is below spec?
Yes. Xbox Cloud Gaming is an official platform. Expect extra input latency in dense fights, and do not host a co-op run from a weak stream if a local Series X is in the lobby.
Does Xbox Play Anywhere include the Steam copy?
No. Play Anywhere covers the Microsoft Store Xbox Series X/S and PC licenses. Steam is a separate purchase with Steam Cloud. Saves do not move between storefronts.
Is Serious Sam: Shatterverse verified on Steam Deck?
Unknown at launch. Valve had not posted a verified rating. Compare your handheld to the table above rather than assuming the Ryzen 5 2500U minimum equals Deck support.
Does 8 GB of RAM actually work?
It is the official minimum for 1080p Low 30 FPS. Close browsers and overlays. Prefer 16 GB if you host, dual-wield, or play with a full Sam roster squad.
